A new Department of Social Development policy will change the way it funds services provided by its non-profit partners. The policy is currently open for public comment. To ensure continued future state support for vital services to prevent and respond to violence, non-profits need to understand the implications and how to constructively engage with government.

The Violence Prevention Forum, in partnership with Cornerstone Economic Research, has developed five factsheets and a briefing document to help non-profits and other stakeholders understand the policy.

This seminar is jointly hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and Cornerstone Economic Research.

Moderator: Senzekile Bengu, Research Officer and Western Cape Violence Prevention Forum Coordinator, ISS

Panelists:

  • Christina Nomdo, Commissioner, Western Cape Commissioner for Children
  • Conrad Barberton, Senior Economist, Cornerstone Economic Research
