My police station page provides crime statistics for each police station precinct in South Africa. It spans several reporting years, and covers various violent and property crime categories. This tool shows one police station’s crime statistics, location and contact details. The tool will generate graphics illustrating the data result over several years for various crime categories. These can also be generated as a downloadable PDF.
About the police station crime data: The SAPS releases annual crime statistics per financial year, covering the period 1 April to 31 March of the following year. View the crime definitions here.
About the police station population data: The calculations for incidents per 100,000 people are referred to as the per capita crime rate. This is the number of incidents divided by the police station precinct population based on Statistics South Africa’s annual mid-year population estimates. The methodology used to model the census data to the police precincts is described in SA Crime Quarterly Issue 56.
